Hi - running a R1Q2 and it looks great. Only problem is that I have got as far as the Big Gun in the single player, and the system crashes with an overwritten memory error. Is there afix for this please?

be sure to have the latest patch installed (3.20) if the problem doesn't go away, instead of using r1q2, try to use the original executable (3.20) from ID Software

I am running the latest version. Will try the original software and see if I can get past the bug. Cheers

If you have the crash log or .dmp file it would help, but this is likely a mod bug - I think the func_countdown or whatever it is that does the counting down texture causes a buffer overflow in the original game code.

Can't get past it with the original software, because it wont read the save file. I can try to get a dump file - is this straightforward? Thanks

It should be automatic if using R1Q2, it will prompt for a crash report. If you are getting a "Game DLL overwrote memory", you can try z_buggygame 2 to cause R1Q2 to allocate twice as much memory as the game asks for to help overcome such bugs.

Hi - the error message is :
z_freetagsgame game dll corrupted a memory block of size 2 at 0x013ECE84 (allocated 66240 ms ago from code at 0x200122B3)
Did try the z_buggygame 2, but didnt make any difference.
Hope that is of use?

It's a bug in the Game DLL code, you'd need to rebuild gamex86.dll / gamei386.so from the R1Q2 game sources which I believe fix this.
