  ok my error is that it could'nt load pics/colormap.pcx

  When I attempt to install or run the game, I get the error "couldn't load pics/colormap.pcx".
 
  Answer
  Ensure the game CD is in the drive.

Launch the game in compatability mode or from the Start menu. The QUAKE2.EXE file cannot be launched without the startup parameters specified in these shortcuts.

Uninstall the game, then delete the game folder. Reinstall the game using the medium or full installation mode.

Download and apply the latest patch from our website.

Rename the PAK0.PAK file to PAK0.OLD. This will force the game to load a new PAK0.PAK from the game CD.
