The path to your quake2 program and subdirectories must be less than 64 characters. The default installation is "c:\quake2\"

If you do something like: "c:\Program Files\idSoftware\Quake II 3.21\binary\" you are in danger of exceeding that limit on startup.

You should make sure your quake2 installation is on a short path. D:\quake2 or similar.


P.S. R1ch: Perhaps it's time to make MAX_OSPATH = _MAX_PATH per stdlib.h instead of a hard 128?

Perhaps, but existing mods may already have the hard coded 128 char limit in them, and if they try to determine the absolute path, will run out of space. I have no problems extending it for R1Q2, I'm just concerned about mod compatibility.
