Hello,
is there something I'm doing wrong
Why is is it (mostly) not possible to adjust the brightness when running a game of Quake 2... it's always way too dark.
I'm currently using a GeForce 5900 with ForceWare 66.81 Drivers

Try bumping up the value of
gl_modulate
I have it set at 2, 2.5 or 3.5.

I use KDE 3.3.0 desktop on Slack, and find the best way is to use the monitor gamma adjustment in KDE prior to starting quake2 (I use 0.95 normal usage, and have to push up to 1.95 for quake2 to look the same as intended).. gl_modulate makes the colours go real wonky sometimes.
