I'm trying to get q2 set up on my Linux machine and I'm having some strange problems.
I compiled and installed quake2-r0.16.1 from icculus
I got the sound to work following a tip here:

Everything works great, I can play the game and connect to local server for LAN play all with sound.
I compiled and installed r1q2-b7904 and I can play the game fine with sound, as soon as I connect to a server - even LAN, I lose sound.
Any ideas how to fix this?
