R1Q2 and quad core CPU

I'm using a laptop to play q2 and it doesn't have a graphics card, however I have an i7 quadcore which should be plenty fast to emulate as it does just fine on my netbook, however in the taskmgr it only uses 25% of the available cpu, so I'm assuming it's just using one core.  Is there a way to optimize r1q2 better for laptops? I'm using WinXP 32bit.

Not really. R1q2 is not multithreaded so extra cores does nothing for it.
