Harware accelerated OpenGL(Fatal Error)

Hello, I'm having some problems with r1gl, when I try to start my r1q2 I get the message "R1GL could not setup a hardware accelerated OpenGL window." I have installed the newest drivers for my Radeon HD5850 card.

Anyone have a clue what I could do to fix this?

Make sure there are no stray .dll files in the Q2 folder, eg ati*.dll, opengl*.dll, etc.

You haven't mentioned what OS you are using.
Make sure you've updated your R1Q2/R1GL files. If you're using Catalyst 10.5, you should try downgrading to Catalyst 10.4, because 10.5 has major problems with Opengl drivers.

Ok, I will try it, but I think I have tried most of the catalyst ver already.
Sorry I dont know why I diden't post it in the first post, but I´m using windows 7 Ultimate and PowerColor Radeon HD5850 PCS+1GB

I'm having the same issue.  Quake2.exe will run openGL just fine, but I can't get it to work in r1q2.  I'm in windows 7 ultimate 64bit and am using a radeon mobile 1600x.  This seems to be an error with ATI cards in general, as I've seen the issue in a lot of other forums, but never a solution.  I'm not running Catalyst at all.
