problems with q2admin 1.17.44

I have never been able to figure out the + - (-) think, I think it's supposed to be a temporary tag.

What I do since I already have my rcon password set is

for temporary (meaning it will go away at either a map change (sometimes) or a server restart
rcon sv !ban name re "console' MSG "Use a legit name"

for permanent

rcon sv !ban name re "console" MSG "Use a legit name" save mod

the save mod writes it into the banned file in your mod directory. If you want it to be server wide, i.e. you just do save

rcon sv !ban name re "console" MSG "Use a legit name" save

you can also use the like which will match any part of a name.

rcon sv !ban name like "dork" ......

will ban dork, dorkwad, bigdork, or any other name that has dork in it. You have to be careful with this one though since it's so broad in it's range.

Finally a couple other tips.

If a person is in there and you don't want to look up their IP address, I think (It's been a while since I tried this one) you would do

rcon sv !ban name re "dork" %p .....

what that does is cause q2admin to look up their IP and ban that specific IP address.
