I got exceedingly bored one day... so I just decided to re create... REDIT! Now I have a ßeta version that is (almost) fully functional... hell, it's cool! It is available for download at a measley235 KBytes... PLEASE no people emailing me requesting FEATURES (I have not finished adding these) but I DO APPRECIATE feedback on the interface or whatever... it's not quite the same as the old REDIT... Anyway, are you REDdy for it? Freeware. REDIT 1.2 ßeta
I no longer have the time to maintain this page. Thus, do not email me asking to have links or anything. I am now completely finished with RA, and moving onto something new... (TA anyone?)
About time. This is what Counterstrike should have been. New units that you can actually build and use, more new single player missions, and 100 more multiplayer maps, with new MEGA maps (they are HUGE!) Get it now! It is only $10 or round about. Although you need two CD's for multiplay aftermath, one of you start RA without the CD and one with. Start the game as per usual and then run to the other PC (before it times out) and give it the CD. All will be well, but the new sounds will not be heard.
Damn. My hard drive crashed. No backup of the REDIT code. I don't really have the time to start all over again, so consider the ßeta version below the final version. Maybe I will find some time someday, but it won't be for a while. Sorry. NEW VERSION OF REDIT (FULLY FUNCTIONAL) HAS BEEN RELEASED. SEE ABOVE FOR LATEST NEWS.
My ßeta version of my REDIT RULES.INI editor has been released! However, some things do not work correctly and can cause the file to be erased of comments, so help will be unavailable on a specific topic after you save a value. This release mainly gives you an idea of the user interface and layout. If you experience problems, find a bug or similar, DO NOT EMAIL ME!! This is a ßeta release, so no support is given. If you wish to distribute this editor, please check with me what you have the latest version. Download it here! (400K) NEW VERSION OF REDIT (FULLY FUNCTIONAL) HAS BEEN RELEASED. SEE ABOVE FOR LATEST NEWS.
Roger Wong, one of the best FAQ writers, has released his Red Alert Internet Strategy Guide. It is extremely comprehensive, with lots of tips, info about units, details of how to complete every mission. Go to the homepage from my links section below. However, his latest version requires payment.
Lots of GUI (Graphical User Interface) RULES.INI editors are appearing, but don't trust them. Most of them screw up the file, moving bits around, etc. It is a lot easier doing it by hand. If anyone knows of one which does work, let me know. I am currently developing my own, and a ßeta Version will appear soon
Kahn
95 is now available! This is like Kali and Mplayer, but it totally FREE! It
is shareware, so if you do use it regularly, support the concept and register.
Now they have decided to put a really dumb time limit on it - making it no
different than the rest of them. Never mind!
Westwood have released Red Alert: Counterstrike, a missions disk for Red Alert which contains
This pack is being released as an UPGRADE to Red Alert, so you must own the full game to use it.
However, Counterstrike is very disappointing.
To access the hidden giant ant missions, click on the speaker circle near the top right (also shown in the nearby image). Then hold Shift+Ctrl and click on it again. Ant missions are yours!

New to Westwood Chat? Check out my page of Westwood Chat Abbreviations and Commands!
I have THE rules.ini file! Many people have a faulty version of rules.ini. Check the end bit. If it says something about crates and stuff (the last word being QUAKE) then YOU HAVE THE FAULTY VERSION!! You can download the newest and most comprehensive rules.ini with default values for everything in my links section down below.
The Total Havoc Map Pack is now available. It has some very cool maps for multiplayer. Visit the link for Total Havoc in the Links section or follow the Total Havoc Map Pack link, or use the above link.
Westwood have FINALLY upgraded their Wchat servers! (About time!) and Wchat! Get 3.009 version from my links section below. Chatting and games now have a speed increase!

NB: Bug exploiting in multiplayer is considered cheating!

| Country | Firepower | Build time | Price | Shot rate | Ground speed | Armour |
| England | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal | Bad |
| Germany | Good | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal |
| France | Normal | Normal | Normal | Bad | Normal | Normal |
| Ukraine | Normal | Normal | Normal | Normal | Good | Normal |
| Russia | Normal | Normal | Good | Normal | Normal | Normal |
This data IS correct. There is a bug in Red Alert 1.4 or less that makes France and England bad. You can download RULES.INI in the links section, and fix the problem in there.

The Allies. These are European Countries, England, Germany and France They have slightly low armour, but lots of sea weaponry and special weapons. These are the 'good guys'. They are trying to defend from an unexpected attack from the Soviets. Will you help defend Europe, or will you help Joseph Stalin's reign of terror! As Kane would say, the choice, my friend, is yours.

The Soviets. They are Russia and Ukraine. They are generally good on armour, and have lots of planes and good defence. These are the 'bad guys'. They are attempting to take over Europe. Will you help them?

Allies
strategies
Well. When starting a game, sometimes it is best to get the MCV and drive it around until you come to a large patch of ore, with lots of ore pits. This will ensure a consistent income. When you deploy the MCV, surround it with concrete walls if you have the time, then build a powerplant. Next, get a barracks, then build the refinery and a few rocket soldiers.
Once your refinery is ready, place it as close to the ore as possible. Start building 2-3 turrets and pillboxes, then get a radar dome, and a war factory. Churn out a few ore trucks (2-3) and get them harvesting DIFFERENT ore fields. You don't want to deplete a whole ore field, otherwise it won't grow back very fast
If one of your ore fields is getting low, harvest another one, as the ore will grow back. Make sure you have a lot of tanks and a few artillery and rangers in your ore fields, along with 5 rocket soldiers. This will stop, or at least, slow down any attack on your ore trucks
"He who controls the ore field, controls the game" - R1CH
If you ever get below 2,000 credits, it's time for another refinery and more ore trucks. You should NEVER run out of money. Then build up a tech centre, and a nuke silo ASAP. Then get lots of defences up and gap generators. Turrets work best in groups like this
P = Pillbox, T = Turret
TTT
TTP <------Enemy approach from here.
TTT
This works well against tanks and infantry. Camo. pillboxes have a lot more armour then normal pillboxes, so go for them. Beware of rocket soldiers and turrets, though. 2 rocket soldiers against 1 turret and the turret will die! That is why pillboxes are important. Also, get AA-guns in groups of 2 or 3 in front of prime targets. Never run out of power. If your opponent nukes your powerplants, you MUST not go low on power, otherwise it's bye-bye CY. (hey, nice rhyme)
Never use the chronosphere, it's more trouble than it's worth. There is a 40% chance of something bad happening. However, it is very useful for setting up a mass of defence near your opponent's base. Chrono an MCV and build Turrets/Teslas.
Start assembling an attack force under the hiding of gap generators. Use these all round your base, or die. First, build 5-10 medium tanks, and 5 destroyers. Then get 2-3 artillery and a few cruisers. You should now get 5-1- rocket soldiers, and the odd Tanya and a few scatterings of APC's, rangers and light tanks. Cram a few artillery in a LST and then wait.
When your nukes is ready, nuke their powerplants. A nuke can destroy as many powerplants in a 6 cell radius, so use it wisely. Immediately send in your attack force, and a few choppers just for the sake of it. Use your destroyers to attack defences from behind. Their Teslas should be down following the nuke, so get your attack force to concentrate their firepower on more powerplants, until there are non left. Hit his war factories and barracks with your artillery, while your tanks defend against enemy tanks. Send your cruiser up to his base, and shred his construction yard. Destroy all SAM sites once all the enemy tanks are down, and then bring in choppers to annihilate his ore trucks. If he sells everything, make sure you finish off every last man, and that he doesn't get a chance to get any crates.
And thus ends strategies for Allies.
Soviet
strategies
These guys are perfect for tank rushers, so allies, look out. When you start, if you have the time and money, build a fence all round your construction yard, then a powerplant. Get barracks, then a refinery or 3. This will ensure a steady income for all that hi-tech stuff. Build a radar dome and a war factory, and then a load of well spaced out advanced powerplants. Then start on the Teslas. Position them one behind the other, otherwise if just one man attacks, he gets shot by two blasts, thus wasting a shot.
Get flame towers behind the Teslas, so if your power goes down, you are not totally finished. Get more war factories, and churn out heavies non stop. Position them in all the ore fields on the map, with a few rocket soldiers. Get an air force next, consisting of 10 MiGs, 2 in each team.
"He who controls the ore field, controls the game" - R1CH
Build Teslas and SAM sites inside your base. Also, put some Teslas on the shore line to fend off small ships, and build a sub pen and keep 10 subs handy. Position more around key bridges to the enemy's ore, and when the ore truck crosses, let rip and nuke the bridge.
Get a tech centre and a nuke silo, AND an iron curtain. Many people overlook this. Prepare an attack force of Mammoths, heavies and v2's. Position the mammoths first, then the heavies, and last the v2's, with a mammoth in case of rear attacks. When your nuke is ready, nuke all their powerplants in a six cell radius, and send in a pair of MiGs on each base defence. (turret, pillbox) and send in that attack force you prepared. MiGs reload quickly, so while your tanks attack their base, your MiGs can kill their ore trucks. Bring your subs around to attack any ships they may be using. Use your v2-rockets at any remaining powerplants, and send the mammoths at the construction yard. If this attack fails, drive an MCV in the middle of the base, deploy, iron curtain and churn out Teslas! :)
And thus ends soviet strategies.
