[a Quake2 MOD by R1CH]
I have recently taken an interest in mod DLL programming and have started
creating a weird DM mod. It was originally intended only for LAN play due to the
high number of entities (read gibs) I have added. I haven't tried it on the
Internet but it may work. There are a lot of server CVARs you can change
to reduce gibs, debris, etc so it may be feasible for the 'net.
Version 1.0 out now for download! (note it is my first mod, it should never see the light of day and it has
many problems, etc)
- When you kill someone you don't get a frag. When you die you don't lose a
frag. "Eh?" you're thinking. "Then how do I get points?"
Well when somebody dies and gibs, their head is left behind. Pick it up to get
a point. Sounds simple? You may think so, but these heads have attitude.
They are volatile. They are dangerous. They are BOUNCY. Try it and see. You
may suffer more damage from your enemy's head than you did from the enemy...
- LOTS of server CVARs, allow you to customize almost everything...
- Allow deployment of lasers (kill people running into them) or force lasers
(invisibly push people walking into them, preferably into pits O lava etc)
- More gibs!!
- LOTS more gibs!
- Decent blood when shooting people (ie yet more gibs)
- Realistic fall damage (so NO jumping from 8 story buildings)
- Faster rocket launcher (Q1 speed)
- Faster item /weapon respawn
- Adrenaline now gives +50 to max. health (nice)
- Hex Damage (OUCH)
- Throw hand/proxy grenades further and more powerful
- Grenade launcher fires further, bounces a lot, longer timeout
- Power armor more effective
- Railgun damage increased very slightly (to make bodies gib)
- Start with 1/2 your ping of armor, sort of gives HPWs an advantage
- Different death messages
- Lifts/doors/other crushy type things now do decent amounts of damage
- All armor can go max up to 200
- Armor shard gives +15 armor
- Health: Small = +5; Medium = +15; Large = +30.
- HOT debris from rocket launcher etc
- LOTS more knockback from weapons (hehehehe)
- Rocket jumping sends you HIGH... then you crater if you miss your target =)
- Ammo for rockets and grenades gives +10 rather than +5
- Works in single player too!
- Other minor enhancements I've already forgotten about
- When MASS gibbings go on, everyone in the room suffers from GETSPACE
overflows :(
Luckily these only last a second or so due to the rapid disappearing gibs.
Also you can now reduce the number of gibs using server CVARs.
- Rare crashes changing level in single player.
- Chaingun causes excessive gibbings (hehe) - working on this one.
- There is something like a 1/100 chance of picking up a head which will
crash the server. I've no idea what causes it but it only seems to happen in
single player, so if you're planning on an Internet server you don't need to
worry about this.

If you plan on running a public NeurotiC server, please let me know and
I will list your server here.

NeurotiC is a server-side only MOD, which means that if you want to play
on a server you do not need to do anything other than connect. However, this
text file is recommended reading, documenting the new features etc.
You can download NeurotiC MOD here
(150k). NOTE that new versions will regularly be posted and you should always
try and keep your versions up to date, especially if you want to run an Internet
server.

Simply extract the contents of the ZIP file to \Quake2\neurotic. To then run a
server, look in the neurotic_server.txt included with the .ZIP.
