Welcome to NeurotiC, my first Q2 MOD. ------------------------------------- This MOD was originally intended for LAN only play but since I added server cvars it is possible to configure it to play over the Internet. OBJECTIVE: ---------- Whenever you kill someone you DON'T get a frag. In order to get the frag, you must collect their dead head. Sounds simple? Not when these heads have attitude. They are kinda BOUNCY as well, and don't stand too close to them... you'll see. You cannot pick up your own heads by default, unless a server changes it. I know this sounds a bit like HeadHunters, but trust me it isn't, especially with the new stuff outlined below: This is a server side only MOD, but this file is recommended reading for clients. There are a few bindings you need, as well as a bit of info. WHATS NEW: ---------- Lasers Force lasers Cluster Grenades Proxy. Grenades LOTS of Gibs Kamikazee and more! BINDINGS: LASER deploy standard laser FORCELASER deploy force laser KILLA deploy a KillaChinchilla (not usually allowed) LASER: This is the standard Q2 single player style laser. Walk up to a wall and press the key bound to laser. Depending on the server config, a laser will attach to the wall and begin firing, or it will have a delay... if there's a delay GET OUT THE WAY as this means the server has enabled lasers hurting their owners (default) Some servers have lasers disabled, period. You also are only allowed 6 lasers deployed at once. Costs 50 cells by default. FORCE LASER: OK this doesn't do any damage and you don't get any frags from it but it's extremely funny. Basically it's an invisible laser that emits a strong pushing effect from the source. So you walk up to the wall and deploy it (if server allows it) and then one second later the invisible pushing starts. So you could have great fun putting these near lava, big pits, etc..... :) Plus because you don't take damage from the laser, deploy on the floor and run into it and fly... high into the sky... and die.. :) Note: Due to memory requirements, you are only allowed one force laser active at once. The only visible parts of a force laser are the laser attached to the wall and the black sparks at the laser hitting the other wall (or floor/sky whatever) - they also last twice as long as normal lasers, and cost 2x as many cells. UPDATED: Now you get frags from people dying 'naturally' 3 seconds after touching your force laser (note laser cells cost is now x4) CLUSTER GRENADE LAUNCHER: If a server has enabled it, the grenade launcher fires cluster grenades, which explode on impact to release 4 or 8 (server set) hand grenades which do a fair bit of damage. Also the grenade bounces around a LOT more so you can shoot it round corners etc and wreak general havoc with it, AND it fires faster. =) PROXY HAND GRENADES If a server has enabled it, hand grenades become proxy grenades. Simply throw one down and anyone walking close to it gets hurt. Note they also can be thrown further than standard Q2 grenades, plus they self destruct after server set time period (30 secs def.) UPDATED: The priming time of grenades is reduced a fair bit, try it and see. KAMIKAZEE: OK... remember how you used to hold on to your hand grenade too long and yet didn't have your arm blown off? Well no more. When you hold onto your grenade, you go kamikazee. Depending on how many grenades you have, the damage is either huge or feeble. Kamikazee with 100 grenades and you most likely take out a good portion of the room. With < 10 grenaes you'll only end up killing yourself. Either way you will probably end up dead :) You lose a frag, but get a frag for each person you take with you, and believe me, with 100 grenade kami, it isn't difficult to take at least 2 or 3 with you... BACKPACK: The backpack now allows you up to 400 cells rather than 300. KILLACHINCHILLA: Oh dear. This is a bit of insanity, if the server has enabled it, (default disabled for obvious reasons), for 400 cells you can deploy a KillaChinchilla. This looks exactly the same as you but has got enough firepower to take on the entire server. Basically anyone getting in it's field of view gets TOASTED. Completely. They are VERY strong and can only be killed by lots of damage weapons like railgun, hex BFG etc. They attack their owners too for a laugh. Every time they see someone the following happens: 1. They growl. 2. They aim. 2. They unleash a) 5 railgun shots b) 5 grenades c) 5 rockets d) 5 blasters e) 1-5 BFGs all within 0.1 seconds. OUCH. be aware when deploying them, they appear 100 quake units in front of you can have no clip detection, meaning it IS possible to deploy them in walls/floors, so look up a bit whilst deploying and stay away from walls. They don't face you when you deploy them so run away quickly, and you can only have one active at once. They MIGHT actually kill other players' KillaChinchilla's too, I haven't tested this. To deploy, bind a key to KILLA FALL DAMAGE: Ahhh yes. Remember your cunning escape plan of jumping out the Window of the 8th story building evading your enemy? Well forget that. Fall damage is increased. A LOT. So no more falling from massive heights if you want your legs intact. GIBS: Gibs. Love 'em, don't you? Well when I first played Q2 and shot people, it just didn't have that satisfaction of Q1 gibbings. So now, when people die LOTS of gibs come out. When people take damage, LOTS of gibs come out. Basically this is gib city :) - Servers can set all the gib amounts or even disable them, so expect variations. The default amount of gibs causes about +100 ms ping variation when gibbings occur, so servers should have changed them. Be warned, some excessive gibs can overflow slow connections or overflow the server in extreme cases. POWER ARMOR: This stuff never saves me when I use it, until now. It will absorb ALL damage from shots, saving you a lot of health/armor. It also is a bit stronger (absorbs more damage per cell ) than standard. BLASTER: The blaster does less damage but fires slightly faster. BFG: By default, this is slightly more powerful, but servers can also customize this and many other weapons so no guarantees that it is more powerful than a blaster =) ITEMS: Some items are susceptible to be knocked around from explosions etc, so the quad might not be where you expect it. Of course servers can disable this if they want... DEBRIS: Rocket debris emits glowing trails, can be disabled though by the server, and looks kinda cool.... also if server has enabled it, rocket debris also BURNS you... do don't go running into the middle of a rocket fight trying to collect heads....
